ABOUT US

Original Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church is one of the oldest, historic and pioneering churches in the Chicago-land area.   Organized in 1928, Mount Pleasant moved to its current location at 6614 South Blackstone Avenue in 1951 and has been a cornerstone of the Woodlawn Community for many years.   As the community grew, with great numbers of people migrating to Woodlawn from Southern states, Mount Pleasant became the spiritual home for these newly transplanted faith-filled families.   Throughout the many changes in this community, Mount Pleasant has continued to serve as the spiritual rock for its residents and others throughout Chicago-land who have called Mount Pleasant their church home.  Today, we have many 3^rd and 4^th generation members.   

We invite you to join us for any of our Services.  We are located on the Southside of Chicago, in the Woodlawn neighborhood, just one block west of Stony Island Avenue.
